"Architectural Quotient (AQ) – Pune's Inter-College Quiz Competition" is a cornerstone event hosted annually by PVPCoA. Since its inauguration in 2008, AQ has been instrumental in not only fostering architectural knowledge but also nurturing a vibrant quizzing culture within the architectural community. The primary objective of AQ is to elevate the standard of quizzing within the Architectural Fraternity while simultaneously positioning Pune as a notable Architectural Quiz Hub. With the ultimate aim of preparing students for the prestigious national 'ARCHUMEN' Quiz, AQ serves as a platform for students to showcase their architectural acumen and compete against peers from various architectural colleges affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University and other universities.
The format of AQ is meticulously designed to encourage maximum participation and engagement. Teams of two members, typically comprising B.Arch. students, register either online or on-the-spot for the Qualifying Round, which features a series of objective questions. From this round, the top 6 teams emerge as finalists and proceed to the Main Quiz. The Main Quiz consists of multiple rounds, encompassing a wide array of subject-specific architectural topics as well as questions related to Pune city.
Throughout the years after its inception, AQ has garnered significant success and recognition. Despite facing challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, AQ has continued to thrive and adapt. In 2020 and 2021, AQ successfully transitioned to a digital format as well with "AQ 2020 – Level Up Under Lockdown!" This innovative approach involved hosting a week-long online architectural quiz on Instagram, featuring unique themes and questions each day. From the year 2023, AQ was restarted in its original format as well.
Beyond its competitive aspect, AQ serves as a catalyst for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and camaraderie among students and professionals in the architectural community. It provides a platform for students to not only test their architectural knowledge but also to gain practical insights and network with peers and industry professionals. As a result, AQ plays a pivotal role in enriching architectural education and engagement, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of architecture among students and enthusiasts alike.
