SHEARFORCE stands as a premier intercollegiate sports tournament organized by PVPCOA, dedicated to strengthening fraternal bonds among architectural colleges across Maharashtra. Conceptualized with passion and nurtured since inception by Shri. Jitendra Pitaliya (Secretary, VIT Trust), SHEARFORCE is the brainchild of Ar. Piyush Sheopuri (Alumni, 2015 ) and Ar. Prasanna Desai (Director, PVPCoA) inspired by the Bauhaus School of Thought. This visionary approach recognizes sports as crucial for the holistic development of architecture students.
What began modestly in February 2012 with a single sport – football (boys) – has evolved remarkably. Today, SHEARFORCE encompasses football, basketball, and volleyball (for both boys and girls), drawing participation from over 20 colleges and engaging more than 1000 architecture students annually. This growth underscores its significance and impact within the architectural community.
The tournament's success is bolstered by its meticulous organization and adherence to professional standards.
Official referees from esteemed associations like PDBA (Pune Districts Basketball Association), PDFA (Pune Districts Football Association), and PDVA (Pune Districts Volleyball Association) uphold fairness and excellence in gameplay. Rules, scoring strategies, and logistical arrangements are crafted in consultation with these bodies, ensuring a competitive and well-managed event.
Beyond competition, SHEARFORCE fosters a sense of community and connection among architectural alumni and students. Alumni from various colleges return to participate, adding a nostalgic and celebratory atmosphere to the event.
