In 2008, the institute was taken over by the current Vivekanada Institute of Technology (VIT) management trust under the guidance of Ar. Prof Prasanna Desai & team of dedicated & passionate faculty members.

Guided by the managing trustee Shri Jitendra Pitaliya, the trust had a wider vision to bring professionalism in the education of Architecture mentored by Ar Vikas Bhandari.

In this ‘New Beginning’, although faced with a challenging urban location & space limitations, the inspiring team of faculty could ‘look inward’ & create a charged academic environment with a spine defined by the central corridor with a permanent display of students work.

The ‘Floor of Architecture’ premises was visited by many eminent architects coming to Pune from the country as well as abroad who discussed ideas and vision with students and faculty alike.

Well known Architect & Pritzker prize winner Ar Balkrishna Doshi visited the premises of PVPCOA just days before the college shifted to its current large building in Pirangut on the western outskirts of the city and inspired the students and faculty to document their premises as well as the ‘Urban Milieu’ around it.

New Premises

With the unending support by the management noteworthy of the efforts of Shri Indrakumar Chhajed and tireless marathon efforts by Shri Jitendra Pitaliya, the institute moved to its current ‘Grand’ new premises, 9 kms from ‘Chandani Chowk’ or 15 kms from Deccan Gymkhana on west of Pune near Pirangut.

The current location is blessed with the natural settings of hills on one side and the picturesque ‘Pirangut valley’ lined with the view of the ‘Sanhyadri’ mountains on the other.

Conceived by Architect Vikas Bhandari, the new premises of almost four floors with a huge atrium offers the students an exciting engaging environment, conducive to the creative thinking and learning processes the institute believes in.

The building has huge studio spaces, lecture halls, large lobbies which double up as interaction spaces as well as pin up spaces, a well stacked library with important books, latest journals & periodicals. It also has a well equipped computer center and an environment offering ‘Round the clock’ working for students equipped with a on campus ‘Stationery store’ and a ‘Canteen’ offering healthy food options.

The most interesting element is ‘Insight’, a permanent exhibition of the work of students from B.Arch & post graduate programs in Landscape Architecture & Urban design offering a ‘Window’ to the world of Architecture to any individual as well as school students interested in the field. The premises of the college is well connected by an efficient ‘Bus system’ run by the institute for students, staff and faculty to travel daily.

Needless to say, the institute continues to grow under the guidance of an ‘Inspiring Faculty team’ continued to be guided by a team of senior architects steered by Ar Prof Prasanna Desai.
