A Quiz for Students of Architecture 

“Architectural Quotient (AQ)” - a brain child and an initiative of Ar. Prof. Prasanna Desai, Pune, organised by VIT’s PVPCOA every year, is an Inter-Collegiate Quiz, between colleges of Architecture affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and other universities in Pune, as a platform to showcase the best and the most knowledgeable minds in the city of Pune. This is an endeavor to encourage a spirit of friendly competition between the participating students eager to win the coveted prizes.

A dynamic form of architectural education and the presentation of architectural trivia, this vibrant and exciting venture was established by the PVP College of Architecture in year 2008 under the guidance of Ar. Prof. Prasanna Desai. It was launched to enable students from all architectural colleges in Pune to - engage in a battle of wits, test their Architectural knowledge and putting it to compete with teams from other colleges.

The vision is to elevate the quizzing standards of the Architectural Fraternity and to establish Pune as an Architectural Quiz Hub, thus preparing students for the Grand National Quiz, 'ARCHUMEN' organized by Ethos.

Teams form PVPCOA have participated in the Grand National quiz “ARCHUMEN” every year after AQ Quiz. AQ atmosphere has given the background and prepared the students for the culture of quiz. Till now 4 times teams from PVPCOA have emerged as winners in the Grand National quiz “ARCHUMEN”.

AQ seeks to prepare every architectural student in Pune and equip him/her with a sound knowledge of Architectural Trivia. AQ provides every participating individual, with necessary exposure and awareness of multiple facets of architecture and empower the students with knowledge beyond the syllabus.

In 2008 two teams, consisting of two members each, from every college were allowed in the elimination round, and the final round was held, where six teams from six prominent colleges competed in the final showdown. Sinhagad College of Architecture (SCOA), Pune emerged as the winners.

In 2011,  we  restarted  the  Quiz  “AQ  2011”  along  with  IIA, Pune Chapter  &  hosted  a  successful  quiz. 

Format of Quiz 

• Registration – 2 students teams (from one college) online / on spot registration (with valid college ID)
• Questions Type – based on various sub-disciplines of the architecture. 
• Qualifying Round – objective test paper with 20 objective type written questions (15 minutes) to be answered by each team individually.
• Main Quiz rounds – Top 6 shortlisted teams (max 2 top teams per college) from qualifying round

04:30 pm to 05:00 pm - On the Spot Registration + Reporting

05:00 pm to 05:30 pm - Qualifying Round (written objective quiz)

05:30 pm to 06:15 pm - Break + Screening of the Film

06:15 pm to 07:30 pm - Draw of Lot & Main Quiz Round

07:30 pm to 08:00 pm - Prize Distribution & Vote of Thanks

Quiz Awards

1. Winners – Rs. 10,000/- (per team) + Certificate of Merit & Trophy (per student)
2. 1st Runner Up – Rs. 5,000/- (per team) + Certificate of Merit & Trophy (per student)
3. 2nd Runner Up – Rs. 2,500/- (per team) + Certificate of Merit & Trophy (per student)
4. Other 3 Teams in Main Quiz Round - Certificate of Appreciation & Trophy (per student)
5. All other Teams in Qualifying Round - Certificate of Participation (per student)
6. Trophy & Certificate for maximum participation for college.
