SHEARFORCE is an INTERCOLLEGIATE SPORTS TOURNAMENT host entirely by PVPCOA with an intention of strengthening fraternal bonds amongst the Architectural colleges primarily from the state of Maharashtra.

Shearforce is an event which is very energetically and enthusiastically nourished and nurtured since its inception by Shri. Jitendra Pitaliya (Secretary, VIT Trust). It is the  brain child of Ar. Piyush Sheopuri (ex-student of PVPCOA) and Ar. Prasanna Desai (Director, PVPCOA) and was executed by Ar. Chinmay Shah and Ar. Vishal Sonigra (ex-students of PVPCOA) on the lines of Bauhaus School of Thought, which was the first college of Architecture to insist that Sports in also important in a school of architecture for the all round development and well-being of the students of Architecture. This initiative is entirely handled at the ground level by the students teams and volunteers from PVPCOA.

With its humble beginnings in February 2012, Shearforce began with a single sport – FOOTBALL (BOYS) in 2012, with a participation of 8 Colleges from Pune and 144 architecture student players, SHEARFORCE has now grown leaps and bounds and hosts sports like- FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, VOLLEYBALL (for boys as well as girls). It boasts a participation of more than 20 Colleges primarily from the state of  Maharashtra. It enjoys a participation of more than 100 teams and 1000 architecture student players.  Within this span, SHEARFORCE has seen a noteworthy growth.

It is a tournament which is been appreciated and acknowledged by most of the colleges of Architecture in India. The principals, Heads of Departments and even the faculty members visit the venue to encourage their teams and promote a healthy relationship with all the participating colleges.

Shearforce maintains it’s integrity by inviting Official Refrees from official associations like the  PDBA (Pune Districts Basketball Association), PDFA (Pune Districts Football Association), PDVA (Pune Districts Volleyball Association).  All the rules and scoring strategies and logistics are designed in consultation with these associations.

 Currently, since past two years, Shearforce is currently being hosted on the STATE RESERVE POLICE FORCE – SRPF GROUND which is thoroughly maintained by the SRPF authorities. The grounds and courts are of a very good quality which are otherwise used for SRPF Training and Sports tournaments.

 The current prizes provided in the competition are Rs.15,000/- for winners, Rs.7,000 for Runner-s up, Rs.1,000/- each for Top scorer and Best player along with additional prizes for Man-of-the-Match for each game. The winners and other noteworthy performers are also awarded with certificates and trophies. The main Shearforce Trophy is a Rolling trophy.  All other participants are provided with Participation certificates.

 Right from conducting Sports to even providing Healthy Food, arranging transportation and accommodation for colleges from outside Pune, Shearforce strives its best to provide a comfortable and convenient environment and hosts an event that is ENERGY AND ACTION PACKED.

Shearforce also has an app for player registration and for On-going match statistics.

Shearforce is one platform by PVPCOA wherein even the ALUMNI STUDENTS of other colleges come together, play matches and find a reason to return and stay connected with their alma-matter. The inauguration of Shearforce has guests who are national and international level sports achievers.
