4th Year Pedagogy

4th year pedagogy aims to equip the student to take critical positions through community participation, dialogue and co-creation in evolving the PROGRAM for Contextual Resolution. City as a class room is a central thread in the studio exercises. The design studio in 4th year aims at study and a contextual response to the climatic & geographical, cultural, socio political and economic context of the region while understanding needs & aspirations of the society through interaction with the stakeholders. The technology studio is mainly an application of construction systems, techniques, details & services learned in earlier years with the focus towards the process of ‘Making’ or ‘ Constructing’ in real existing context. Research in Architecture develops the ability to focus and conduct a detail research of a particular area of concern. While subject like ‘Urban Studies’ tries to develop understanding of larger frameworks of Development within the urban context, there are practical subjects like ‘Quantity Survey & Estimation’, ‘Specification writing’ and ‘Professional Practice’ which connect the students to procedures and processes of Architectural Practice. Electives offered gives glimpses of parallel, allied field of the architecture. Horizontal linkages are evolved and established in the structure of 4th year for subjects and streams, which is essential component of the holistic understanding of various aspects in the study of the built environment.
